Round Three of the McDonald’s Sydney Shires Competition saw another round of fantastic individual performances. In the First-Grade match between North West Sydney and Roseville at Kanebridge Oval, Roseville captain Daniel Lenehan had a remarkable all-round performance in his sides first innings victory. Batting first Roseville piled on the runs declaring at 6/376 with Matt Gubbay leading the way falling just short of a century with 98. He was well supported by Ben Kohler-Cadmore (50), Patrick Gall (51*) and Lenehan who made a quick fire 62* off 48 deliveries. Roseville completed their good performance dismissing NWS for 131. Lenehan was the star of the show with the ball finishing with the amazing figures of 8/26 off 14.3 overs. Lenehan picked up his 9th wicket of the match as Roseville enforced the follow on however an outright victory was not possible with NWS finishing the match at 2/48.


It was a run fest in the First-Grade match between Strathfield and Warringah at Airey Park. Batting first the home side posted a big total of 8/312(dec) with Strathfield captain Paul Donovan continuing his great early form scoring his 2nd century of the season with 107. In reply Warringah got off to a great start in their run chase with openers Hamish Ferguson and Daniel Ward combining for a 123-run partnership. Ward was dismissed for 63 while Ferguson kicked on with a big century, seeing his team home with an unbeaten 157. Fergusons innings contained 14 fours and 2 sixes, and he was well supported by Ross Zelem who was also unbeaten on 67 as Warringah chased down their target just two wickets down.


There was also First Grade centuries to Burwood’s Tom Parton (111), who brought up back to back hundreds after scoring 120 in Second Grade in Round 2, and Linfield’s Joshua Trewin (109). Parton came to the crease under pressure against Macquarie Uni, with his team 5/62, but his great knock enabled the Briars to declare at 8/269 before Brenton Wright completed the victory with figures of 6/25 with the ball. Trewin’s innings helped Lindfield in posting 233 against Mt Pritchard-Southern Districts however Mounties were able to chase the total down to bring up a victory by 4 wickets.


In Lower Grade news, Lane Cove’s Raja Islam demolished Balmain South Sydney with the ball in their Third-Grade match, finishing with 8/35 in his teams first innings victory. Strathfield’s Rahul Kumar (7/9) and Balmain South Sydney’s Siddhant Jethaliya (7/33) also took a bag of wickets in their respective sides Fifth Grade and Fourth Grade victories while North West Sydney's Adam Macic took a hat-trick and figures of 6/23 in his sides outright victory over Roseville in Third Grade. Burwood’s Jamie McLeod scored 133 in his sides Third Grade win over Macquarie Uni while Auburn’s Najeeb Azzimi scored an unbeaten 101 and took 6/17 with the ball in his sides outright victory over Pennant Hills in Second Grade.
