SCA Cancels All Matches for the weekend of the 19th & 20th of December
Date of Event Sydney Shires Competition: Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:34PM

The SCA’s Committee of Management, together with senior CNSW personnel, met on Friday the 18th of December to consider the latest COVID communications from NSW Health and its impact on upcoming cricket matches under the jurisdiction of the Sydney Cricket Association.

Medical advice (CA’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Orchard)

  • The strong possibility that the Covid outbreak in Sydney’s Northern Beaches will extend to other parts of Sydney;
  • NSW Health is bracing for more Covid cases today;
  • The possibility that NSW Health may impose a stay-a-home advice across greater Sydney tomorrow (Saturday) and the SCA would need to act on that advise immediately while play was in progress;

In view of the above advice, the SCA’s Committee of Management has determined as follows –

  • Saturday 19th December 2020: Play in ALL Premier (Men’s & Women’s) and Shires matches is cancelled. Any Men’s 1st or 2nd Grade matches that achieved a result of Day 1 last Saturday, the result and player stats shall stand;
  • Sunday 20th December 2020: Play in ALL Women’s and Shires matches is cancelled; and there will be no  play in ALL AW Green Shield matches;
  • Sunday 20th December: Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup Conference Finals have been postponed to Sunday 10th January 2021, with the T20 Cup Final postponed to 26th January (Australia Day public holiday);
  • Tuesday 22 December 2020; No play in ALL AW Green Shield matches;
  • The SCA is exploring the option to reschedule the above AW Green Shield matches to 3rd – 5th January during the period of Bradman Cup;

The SCA’s Committee of Management has made these tough decisions in the interest of the welfare of all players, umpires and club volunteers. The Committee trusts that you will understand.

The Committee would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy & successful New Year.
